WNA- The Nuclear Fuel Report: Expanded Summary, Global Scenarios for Demand and Supply Availability 2021-2040

The World Nuclear Association (WNA) has been publishing reports on nuclear fuel demand and supply approximately every two years since 1975. The recently published 20th edition provides forecasts until 2040 and outlines three scenarios regarding the future demand and supply of nuclear fuel. The publication addresses various issues, encompassing nuclear generation capacity, the supply and demand of uranium and other elements, as well as the impact of recycled nuclear fuel. The report aims to generate accurate estimates through the collection of data from the nuclear industry, international organizations, and public sources, with the overarching goal of having a comprehensive understanding of nuclear energy. The document addresses market competition, regulatory and political barriers, and the growing utilization of nuclear energy, particularly in developing countries. Notably, the report highlights that a significant portion of the anticipated increase in nuclear capacity is projected to originate from developing countries. Building upon a comprehensive approach to nuclear energy, the report delves into specific aspects such as changes in countries' nuclear energy demand and fluctuations in global nuclear fuel supply. Its purpose is to empower countries in making informed decisions regarding the formulation of their energy policies, enabling them to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities within the sector.
